ERC Advanced Grants

ERC Advanced Grants

The Uehiro Oxford Institute invites expressions of interest from postdoctoral scholars who wish to apply for an ERC Advanced Grant.

Deadline for Expressions of Interest: Friday 15 May

Advanced Grants provide support for established, leading Principal Investigators (PIs) seeking to pursue a ground-breaking programme of research. This scheme offers grants of €2.5 million for a period of 5 years to fund ambitious research, and normally involve a team of postdoctoral researchers in delivering the project. The Principal Investigator needs to commit a minimum of 30% of their working time to the project. Grant projects for the coming round would be scheduled to start in early-2028.

  • Eligibility: there are no restrictions in terms of a minimum number of years of postdoctoral research experience, but applicants should be exceptional leaders in terms of originality and significance of their research contributions.

  • Duration: up to five years.

  • Budget and Resources: Guidance on what resources the budget can afford in broad terms is available here.

  • How to apply: any potential applicants should develop a two-page Expression of Interest outlining the project and the resources envisaged, and then have a conversation with the UOI Research Office about their proposal.  We encourage applicants to have these discussions as early as possible, but for reasons of equity, the Institute may not be able to confirm support until after the Expression of Interest deadline.
  • Deadline for Expressions of Interest: Friday 17 April as the cut-off for sending an Expression of Interest to UOI Research Office. Applicants selected by the Institute will be supported to submit applications to the call deadline in August 2026 (exact date tbc).
