Hazem is a Senior Research Fellow in Practical Ethics, Neuroscience, and Society at the Oxford Uehiro Centre for Practical Ethics (joint post with NeuroSec in the Department of Psychiatry). His current research focuses on the ethical and societal implications of advanced AI systems, particularly in healthcare. He leads projects exploring the use of large language models and generative simulations to support clinical communication, ethical deliberation, and policy development. He holds a PhD in Bioethics from the University of Otago, where he worked on ethical and conceptual issues related to human enhancement.
