Helena is a DPhil candidate in Philosophy, funded by the Institute for Ethics in AI. Prior to this, she completed an MPhil in Philosophical Studies under a Jacobsen Scholarship and BA in Philosophy with distinction, both at UCL.
Her thesis will give an account of the nature and value of intimate privacy; the distinctive wrongs or harms that follow from intimate privacy violations; and the relationship between intimate privacy and artificial intelligence. She is under the supervision of Dr Carissa Véliz and Professor Thomas Douglas.
Outside of academia, Helena is the lead editor of an AI Ethics digital magazine, and a researcher for AI For Good Asia.
