Dr Robert Tarzwell
Dr. Tarzwell is a Canadian physician, dually certified in psychiatry and nuclear medicine. He is currently the medical director of the INITIO Nuclear Medicine clinic in Vancouver and a Clinical Assistant Professor on the Faculty of Medicine at the University of British Columbia. His research interests include metabolic imaging of brain function in psychiatric disorders and traumatic brain injury, and psychotherapy outcomes in medically unexplained symptoms. His philosophical interests include extending notions of selfhood and moral status to artificial minds, and whether modified psychiatric methods of identifying conscious capacity in patients are capable of pragmatically identifying the same in an artificial intelligence, including sufficient robustness against deceptive mimicry.
