Michael is currently a Board Director of a tertiary paediatric hospital and an academic. Prior to entering academia, Michael held senior technology leadership positions such as CTO and CIO in organizations in Australia, the US, UK and in Europe, where he has taught into MBA, IT and LLM programs.
Michael's academic interests are at the intersection of technology, ethics, rights, law, governance, and civil society. He has published papers ranging from Generative AI and the music of Taylor Swift to the manner in which power operates on start-up boards and is named as co-inventor on several technology patents. He is also a member of the Expert Group on Neurotechnology and Human Rights for the Australian Human Rights Commission, the Working Group for generative AI in Paediatric Medicine at the Melbourne Children’s Campus, and a former chair of the professional ethics committee of a large membership organization.
