Dr Šćepanović is a senior research scientist at the AI Research Lab of Nokia Bell Labs in Cambridge, UK. She researches in the fields of responsible AI and computational social science, with a focus on health and well-being. Sanja holds a PhD in data science from Aalto University, Finland, and a degree in business and innovation from the European Institute of Innovation and Technology. During her PhD, she was a visiting scholar at CERN and TU Delft. At Bell Labs, as a part of the Social and Responsible AI team, she mentored over ten summer intern projects and is currently an industrial mentor for four master’s students and a PhD student from King's College London. In 2023, she received the annual Nokia Ada Lovelace Award for her contributions to the technical field. Sanja's additional interest is space and earth observation (EO). She is an alumna of the International Space University (participant SSP12 and teaching associate SSP16). In 2023, she completed a Beyond Fellowship at the AI4EO Lab at TUM, Munich, Germany. Her industry experiences include a startup in Silicon Valley and ICEYE – a satellite startup in Finland. Lastly, she is a wife and a mum.
